Fat Hog's Bay Beach, Tortola BVI

Though there are a great deal of beaches on the British Virgin Island of Tortola, every once in a while you’ll come across a bay that’s not ideal for sunbathing, but a great port of call for most yachtsmen. One such bay is Fat Hog’s Bay. With no real beaches to speak of, it’s one of those places that provide a great amount of representation for water lovers and seamen.

Fat Hog’s Bay is located on the East End of Tortola. It’s not exactly a beach location, but it does have a number of marinas and jetties. If you’re looking for the perfect place to dock your vessel, you won’t get much better than Fat Hog’s Bay. It’s great for those who are coming from a long day of sightseeing or even boating tours and would like to get in some great food and just relax. It’s also a great place for any captain who needs to take a load from his full day of transporting cargo --form your traditional sip fare to tourists.

Though it is not much in the way of a place for beachcombers, it’s a great place to get a bite to eat. Fat Hog’s Bay has a plethora of incredible restaurants that flank its shores. There’s nothing quite like it on Tortola. You won’t get a much of a sun tan --as there isn’t really anywhere to lie out. However, you will get your fill of everything from Chinese food to Mexican fare. Of course, the restaurants on this bay also serve the traditional Caribbean fare for which the islands are renowned.

Beyond simply enjoying the food, you can also enjoy the water itself. True, there isn’t much of a beachfront to speak of; however, that shouldn’t stop you from having your own aquatic adventure. There are great opportunities to take your vessel out to sea and experience the warmth of the Caribbean atmosphere first hand. With number of marinas on Fat Hog’s Bay, you shouldn’t have a problem mooring or renting a vessel for a day of easy sailing on the Caribbean Sea.

Once you’ve finished your seafaring experience, you’ll have to dock at Fat Hog’s and catch a bite to eat. Afterwards, you can find yourself at one of the surrounding islets and beaches to enjoy the crisp Caribbean breeze and the feeling of the warm waters as they nip at your ankles.
