Most of the shopping is done on the main street of Tortola’s capital --Road Town. From Monday to Saturday, you will find the stores open and ready for your patronage --from the hours of 9 am to 4 pm. If you’re interested in finding some of the most incredible gifts from the local merchants in town, you should first take a trip to Crafts Alive. It is an open air market that offers visitors the opportunity to engage in the traditional barter system. You’ll also be treated to some of the most incredible crafts that you’ll ever see in the Caribbean --hand crafted trinkets and traditional jewelry and the tourist mainstay, the BVI T-shirt.

If you’re more interested in sampling some of the spices and sumptuous treats of Tortola, then you should take a trip to Sunny Caribbee Spice Co. It’s a lovely place that offers guests the chance to taste the teas, condiments, and, of course, seasonings that Tortola has to offer. You’ll also be able to get a few of the handicrafts for which the Caribbean in general (and Tortola in particular) is known.

There are a plethora of shops at your disposal, all of which offer you acceptable prices for some of the most incredible wares. If you’re willing to a little digging, you’ll find something truly remarkable.
