Annaly Bay Beach, St. Croix USVI
There’s nothing more intriguing to some visitors to the US Virgin Islands than the prospect of getting absolute privacy as they experience the Caribbean. It’s almost a luxury in and of itself to be able to walk along the beach at any time of the day or the week and be completely unbothered by the noise and zeal of awe stricken tourists. However, there are those parts of St. Croix that will surprise you with how uncharacteristically isolated they are. If you’re looking for a place where you will most certainly never be disturbed (no matter what part of the beach you visit), then your paradise lay in Annaly Bay.
In the first place, Annaly Bay isn’t necessarily the easiest beach to reach. If you’re looking for a good bit of exercise, you’ll get it in droves simply trying to reach the beach of Annaly Bay. You’ll most certainly want to pack a great deal of water as you venture through the terrain to get to the beach. Not only is there a hike to get to this part of the Caribbean, it’s a long and sometimes treacherous one. That being said, not many people are willing to traverse that kind of landscape just to get a good beach spot. Though, there is the option of taking some four wheel drive to this location (there’s parking either at Carambola or off Scenic Drive). The beach is almost always completely unpopulated, giving you the spoils of your trials as soon as you reach it.
Once you’ve managed to hoof your way to the beach at Annaly Bay, you’ll be greeted with one of the most gorgeous beaches you’ve ever seen. It’s truly the essence of what the Caribbean is all about --sand, sun, and the most pristine waters you’ll see this side of the universe. The landscape is enough to take your very breath away. You’ll walk into a veritable paradise and never want to leave --especially after having braved the hike to get there (there’s no mistaking that you’ll want to spend as much of your time on this beach as you possibly can, as if you’d ever want to leave in the first place). This marvel of a beach gives its guests the opportunity to experience the true nature of St. Croix. There’s nothing more incredible than the warm waters of the Caribbean as they lap up on the soft sandy shores. The sun as it dances off the clear waters can bring a tear to your eye.
Of course, you didn’t hike (or drive) all this way just to inspect the landscape (however, what a landscape to inspect). You came here for a dip in the water, for some adventure. If you haven’t gotten your fill of that one the hike here, then take the opportunity to explore the beach itself. It’s an incredibly long expanse of sandy beach. There are also tide pools that simply must be experienced. There’s no doubt about it, the seclusion and beauty of Annaly Bay makes it an absolute treasure.
