Frederiksted Pier, St. Croix USVI
There’s nothing quite like experiencing the marvel and charm of a major tourist attraction. Though many would consider these small gems somewhat in the way, you’d have to be quite remiss not to understand why so many people frequent these spots. The US Virgin Islands is full of those little places where the attraction itself wasn’t set up to be ogled by passing eyes; however, the splendid nature of it makes for a great attraction. One such tourist standby is on the island of St. Croix. If you’re interested in finding out some of the history and experiencing the magic of the Caribbean, you must visit Frederiksted Pier.
First, one must comment on the view from Frederiksted Pier --it’s like gazing into the watercolor world of the perfect portrait. It’s a vision during the day and even more of a marvel at night --when the moon is full you feel as though you’re floating on air and being transported to a different kind of paradise. This attraction is nothing but splendid. No matter if you’re a fan of such places or if you’d rather spend your time in seclusion, Frederiksted Pier is actually a wonderful place to get in some of the most incredible sights of Frederiksted (and the island of St. Croix).
Now, what most people are interested in is what you can do at Frederiksted Pier, and believe there is a plethora of activities in which you can engage. Needless to say, the water sports from the Pier are spectacular. A favorite of most of the younger kids is jumping from the Pier, being greeted by the warm Caribbean waters below. It’s a lovely adventure in and of itself. Take a chance and leap in the air. You’ll feel as if you were flying. Another water sport that you simply can’t pass up is the opportunity to do some snorkeling. It’s absolutely brilliant from the Pier. If you get a chance to do so, you simply must snorkel off the side of Frederiksted Pier. You’ll be able to see an immense amount of colorful fish, squid, and seahorses.
Of course, the two most popular activities on the Pier are diving and fishing. In term s of the diving, you’ve never experienced anything like diving from Frederiksted Pier at night. It’s almost like magic --letting the moon light your way as you sift through the seaweed and come face to face with some of the remarkable underwater sea life that makes its home at the pier. Also, you’ll find many people fishing --or attempting to do so-- off the side of the Pier. As this is a place where the yachts and military ships dock, most of the food that doesn’t get eaten gets thrown to the fishes --they’re not too willing to bite if they’ve had their fill of luxurious cruise scraps. But people still try to catch one of these beauties. Come to Frederiksted Pier and experience the most incredible water activities that you could imagine.
