One of the most incredible experiences you’ll ever have is snorkeling in the Caribbean. If you want to the chance to get up close and personal with the gorgeous underwater wildlife of St. Thomas, your best bet is to visit the East End. Some of the most incredible snorkeling is done on these beaches and, what’s more, after you’ve had your fill of the marvelous sea world at your feet, you can turn around and make your way to one of the incredible hotels.

St. Thomas east end beaches

As some of the best opportunities for snorkeling are on the East End, these beaches tend to attract a great deal of tourists; however, you won’t feel at all intruded upon. There’s plenty of beach (and beaches) for everyone to enjoy their own little part of paradise. Coki Point provides some of the best snorkeling on St. Thomas, so if you’re interested in taking it easy away from the crowds, you may want to consider visiting one of the quieter beaches --such as Water Bay or Lindquist Beach, both of which are relatively quiet during the week but have incredibly clear waters.

There’s much more to the East End than a simple tumble amongst the sea turtles. These beaches are also known for their historical significance. Bluebeard’s Beach, for instance, is chock full of history. The beach itself is named after the infamous pirate, Captain Bluebeard, and in fact plays host to what was thought to be his watch tower --Bluebeard’s Castle (which also acts as a resort).

Of course, many of the beaches are undeveloped. This gives you the chance to take a private walk along the shore with someone you love or just explore the natural beauty that’s gone uncorrupted. Whether you fancy a snorkeling adventure or a calming dip in the sea, the East End is the perfect combination of both.
