Little Magens Bay Beach, St. Thomas USVI

St. Thomas Little Magens Bay Beach

Had your fill of the everyday beaches and bathing suit clad tourists roaming their shores? Then you’re truly in luck. Resting a bit past the very popular Magens Bay is a stretch of land known as Little Magens that provides mature tourists the opportunity to shed the weight of the everyday hustle and bustle of mainstream tourism --Little Magens is St. Thomas’s only clothing optional piece of land (though, be advised, it is not an established practice. Nude sun bathing is strictly forbidden in all areas of St. Thomas, but is simply overlooked and tolerated at Little Magens).

This stretch of beach beauty is secluded away from the busy beaches that surround it and inhabit St. Thomas. Though a bit siphoned away from the other beaches and the rumble of city life, everything is close enough to give you a sense of safety no matter where you are. Little Magens is located only half a mile from the nearest attraction --Fairchild Park. It’s also relatively close to Mafolie, a local town that allows all manner of guests to visit and take in the sites. You’re also never too far from a hotel, this adding to the number of people you may encounter on your vacation to this little islet.

There are quite a few local restaurants in the area. No matter your flavour, there is a restaurant that will certainly entertain your palette. The Herve Restaurant serves American food if you want to stay close to something familiar; however, if you’re willing to explore, you may want to consider Cafe LuLu (serving Mediterranean food) or the Banana Tree Grille (serving international cuisine). All of these restaurants are located no more than 2 miles away from the beach so you’re more than able to get in a great meal and do a bit of sunbathing --to remove that pesky tan line.

As a beach that is located relatively close to many hotels, it does see a great deal of traffic during the day of the peak season; however, it’s just secluded enough to give you a chance to relax without worrying about being disturbed at certain points during the day, especially during the early morning (virtually no one visits the beach around this time). Another attribute to this beach that adds to its silent seclusion is the fact that there are no roads leading there and no parking. Anyone wanting to reach this little sandy cove will have to take a stroll through Magens Bay beach --but don’t be discouraged. It’s but a quarter-mile away. There’s no need to worry about hurting your feet on your way to Little Magens. The rocks that you’ll have to manoeuvre are relatively small and incredibly smooth.
