At the end of Bluebeard’s Road, Vessup Bay is the perfect place to stroll along the shoreline and drink in the calm naturalness of the Caribbean beachfront. Its background includes impressive rocky expanses that settle off into the most incredible flora that any beach in the US Virgin Islands has to offer. If you look around the beach you’ll see an array of wildlife from cacti to agave plants. It’s truly a marvel to behold.
If you’re looking for a quite spot for a bit of relaxation, you’ll find it on Vessup Bay; however, be aware that most of the beach is inhabited with couples who came to enjoy the pristine water and incredible sunset view. There is a part of the beach that is considerably less populated than the other, but you’ll have to find it. On the other hand, if you’re into meeting new people, then the somewhat populated area of Vessup Bay may be a bonus for you.
Then again, you don’t come to the US Virgin Islands to chat it up with people that you don’t know. You come for the beach, the sunset, and most importantly, the water sports. There is a water sports concessionaire in the area that can supply you with all the equipment you’ll need to make your Caribbean experience worthwhile --Vessup Bay is a great place to do a bit of windsurfing. The water is calm and perfect for those who want to take a quick dip or for those who are more adventurous and want to drink in some of the incredible underwater wildlife rampant in the Caribbean.
The locals love Vessup Bay, so you’re in great company if you’re wondering where the people are really hanging out. During the week, it’s fairly quiet; however, the week-ends provide the locals with all the excuse they need to come down for a little picnic or a special birthday party celebration. There aren’t any places where you can buy refreshments or drinks --so a light picnic may be something that interests you. This is the perfect place to set up camp for a day and walk along the beach to see the rustic quality that makes Vessup Bay such an incredible getaway. Then open up a basket of your favorite Caribbean cuisine and enjoy the clear sky as the stars pop out in the beautiful sky.
You can easily access Vessup Bay by taxi --or if you like travelling on your own terms, rent your own car. Once on the beach, you’ll be sure that you’re in Heaven, probably staying until the cool Caribbean night air tempts you back to your hotel.
