Water Bay Beach, St. Thomas USVI

St. Thomas Water Bay Beach

There’s something to be said about the unparalleled serenity that you may find in the US Virgin Islands. One of the most incredible examples is Water Bay (also known as Pineapple Bay or Renaissance Beach). There’s a peace and calm on this beach that can’t be measured, and is almost beyond compare.

The beach is covered in gorgeous sand that is soft underfoot (only containing a few pebbles here and there). It’s incredibly easy to access via car or taxi and once you reach it you won’t want to leave anytime soon. There are a few beach chairs and hammocks left over from when a resort used to make its home on the bay. If you just want to take it easy, then you should find yourself some room on a hammock and just let the wind rock you into a calming nap.

Though the water is calm and sweet, there is little in the way of snorkeling. There is a great deal of sea grass in the water (some of which makes it onto the shore of the beach). So, there isn’t much animal life or plant life around for your discovery; however, there is plenty of beauty to go around as the sun recedes behind the horizon to create the perfect sunset.

If you’re in the mood for a bit of water sports, then you’re in luck. Though not ideal for snorkeling, the water makes for great activities otherwise. One can get a bit of wind surfing in, perhaps even a bit of parasailing. There’s also a great opportunity for you to a bit of kayaking to get a better look at the beautiful sea underneath. The water is calm enough for you to enjoy it in any way that you see fit. Though, not everyone needs to be into water sports to enjoy the calm surf. It’s just fine for those people who’d like to do a bit of light swimming.

Of course, as a great source for water play, there are a few amenities at your disposal. There is a couple hotels located not too far away from the beach if you’re interested in taking a small rest from your day of water sports and sea salt tinged, breezy relaxation. If you get a bit hungry, there is a restaurant nearby, which serves Caribbean fare for those who want to sample some of the sumptuous delicacies of the Caribbean Sea.

If you want to take it easy and relax with a loved one, you should visit one of the bars that are nearby. You can recline in one of the left over hammocks and let the lovely Caribbean air rock you gently as you watch the sunset. Water Bay is most definitely ideal for a nice recline or a retreat into a watery reverie.

If you want to relax, or even if you’re interested in doing a bit of swimming or sailing, Water Bay can fit any of your needs and much, much more.
